Volkswagen has just announced that they will be revealing the updated Scirocco GTS for the year 2015 and will present it at this year's Auto Shanghai. An array of new exterior equipment along with a dark-themed interior finish and an uprated power output will be available on the refreshed compact coupe.
Immediately seen on the car is the R-Line bodykit that consist of new bumpers, side sill extensions, roof-mounted spoiler and a rear diffuser. It also has black side mirror as a nod to the 1982 Scirocco GTS. Completing the exterior eye-candy is a set of 18-inch Norwich alloy wheels that sit in front of red brake calipers. A larger 19-inch set called the Lugano will be available as an option.
Aboard the compact coupe, hues of black and gray encompass the interior and is only contrasted by red stitching that can be seen on the sport seats, steering wheel, gear shift gaiter and handbrake lever. It will also have stainless steel pedals, a golf ball-type gear knob for manual models) and a chrome trim package. Optional extras for the cabin include: Vienna leather upholstery, panoramic tilt sunroof and a multifunction steering wheel.
Under the hood, the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four now produces 220 PS, 10 PS more than the pre-facelift model and can be mated to either the standard 6-speed manual or onto the optional 6-speed DSG dual clutch transmission. When paired with the DSG gearbox, it enables the car to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 244 km/h. Top speed for the manual variant is rated at 246 km/h.
