Shelby American is all set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their FIA World Championship by building a limited run of continuation Cobra Daytona Coupes.

According to the automaker, the Cobra Daytona Coupe will be limited to only 50 units and it will be available either in either aluminum or fiberglass. Shelby adds that the limited edition Cobra Daytona Coupe will debut at Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival on August 12 and be displayed at the Rolex Motorsports Reunion inside Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.

The limited edition cars are built using the original blueprints and measurements. The Cobra Daytona Coupes will feature period correct components which include the leaf spring suspension, tube chassis and wooden rimmed steering wheel.

The Cobra Daytona Coupes will be sold as a rolling chassis, but it can be equipped with a 289-cubic inch (5.0-liter) engine built by the Shelby Engine Company.
