With the trend still ever so popular, it seem that Shelby has given their 2017 Super Snake the widebody treatment for the 5th annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show. Called the Super Snake Concept, it is the first concept vehicle introduced by Shelby in over a decade. Shelby says that the if the widebody kit moves into production, the kit will be sold throughout the world and will be included in the official Shelby registry.
The widebody kit adds a vent and has widened by 6.3cm at the front fenders. Meanwhile, the rear width increases by 10cm, both of which gives the Super Snake a more aggressive look. The tuning company also mounted 20x11 inch wheels at the front and 20x12.5 inch wheels at the rear, wrapped in high-performance Michelin tires to match the wider bodywork. Meanwhile, hidden behind the wheels are six-piston and four-piston calipers for the front and rear, respectively.
Powering the widebody Super Snake Concept is a supercharged 5.0-liter Ford V8 which produces 750 horsepower, the same engine found in the 2017 50th Anniversary Shelby Super Snake. To maximize the wider track, a fully adjustable coilover suspension system gives the car better handling.
As of the moment, there is no word whether the widebody kit will make it into production. However Gary Patterson, Shelby American president, did say that previous widebody Super Snake was very popular, giving a better chance that the kit will reach production.
