New engine oil designed to fight aging in high mileage engines
As vehicles continue to age, so do their engines and the need to for proper maintenance to prolong the life of the engine. More so, engines that have done 100,000 km or more do need extra care to further prolong their life.
To meet the needs of those high mileage vehicles, Pilipinas Shell held an event to promote their new engine oil, the Shell Helix High Mileage. Owners of vehicles, both gasoline and diesel, which had mileages of more than 100,000km were treated to a free oil change using the new Shell Helix High Mileage.
“The development of Shell Helix High Mileage is meant to help customers with older vehicles to prolong the life of their vehicle, so that they can enjoy more memories with their trusted partner through the years,” says Dennis Javier, Shell Lubricants General Manager.
The formulation of the Shell Helix High Mileage oil uses the new Flex-molecule technology which is said to provide better wear protection and helps prevent sludge and other deposits. It is also said to help prevent leaks and reduce oil-burn off along with constantly adapting to where the engine experiences intense heat and pressure.
As gasoline and diesel engines use different viscosity oils, Shell has developed two variants of the new Shell Helix High Mileage. The Shell Helix High Mileage 10W-40 is designed for gasoline engines. Meanwhile, the 15W-50 variant is designed for light-duty diesel engines, which comes in a thicker formulation.
