Infiniti has appointed Simon Cox the Design Director of the Infiniti Design London studio. The new director will be based in the studio bound to open in October of this year.

Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura believes that Cox will be a key in continuing Infiniti’s design evolution. The establishment of Infiniti design studios should sharpen the brand further. Aside from the London studio, Infiniti also has sites in San Diego, USA and Beijing, China.

Cox will report to Infiniti Executive Design Director Alfonso Albaisa. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, he had been actively involved in the design of a number of award-winning concept and production vehicles.

At the Royal College of Art in London, he studied Fine Art, jewelry design, product design, and automotive design. With his training and education, Cox  decided to use his creativity with sports cars after a visit to the 1977 Geneva Motor Show.

Prior his appointment, the new Infiniti Design Director has already worked in the design department with companies such as Peugeot, Ford, Lotus, Isuzu and General Motors.
