We measure up the all-new Mazda2 against the competition
Subcompact sedans are relatively the first choice of first time new car buyers. Many car companies have their own take of on the lucrative segment and most automakers release a number of variants that can either be simple company fleet automobiles, or as top-of-the-range everyday cruisers.
Mazda's all-new 2 sedan/hatchback recently made its local debut at the 2015 Manila International Auto Show and now features the brand's Kodo design language as well as a SkyActiv powertrain. Set to take on other subcompact nameplates such as the Toyota Vios, Ford Fiesta and Honda City, we take a look on how the Mazda2 will compete against other subcompacts in terms of body dimensions.
Stacked up against the competition, the Mazda2 is right there with such models like the Ford Fiesta and the Kia Rio. It has a decent wheelbase but is edged out in terms of width and length. The longest subcompact sedan currently on sale is the Honda City while the widest of the bunch is Chevrolet's Sonic. The tallest in the segment comes from Suzuki's Swift Dzire while the ones with the longest wheelbase come from Honda and the Nissan Almera.
