Sizing up the 2015 Honda Odyssey against the competition

The upcoming Odyssey is slightly smaller overall

As you may have already read before, Honda Cars Philippines will be introducing the 2015 Odyssey minivan, though instead of offering the US/Canadian version, the next-generation Philippine-market Odyssey will be derived from the Japanese version.

Interestingly, the upcoming minivan has smaller body dimensions compared to its US/ Canadian relative so we've come up with a list that shows on how the all-new Odyssey will compete against similar models.

2012-2015 Honda Odyssey (U.S. sourced)

2015 Chrysler Town & Country

2015 Hyundai Grand Starex

2015 Kia Carnival

2015 Peugeot Expert Tepee (with side mirrors)

2015 Toyota Alphard

2015 Toyota Previa

2015 Toyota Innova

Compared to the North American version, the new Odyssey is smaller in terms of overall dimension. It's seating configuration also differs as it will only seat 7 (2-2-3) since the second row features a pair of captain seats. The outgoing version was able to seat 8 (2-3-3).

Under the hood, it is fitted with a Earth Dreams 2.4-liter SOHC four-cylinder i-VTEC engine that generates 175 PS at 6200 rpm and 226 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. While it may seem odd that Honda decided to use a four-cylinder engine as opposed to the North American V6, the all-new Odyssey is again marginally smaller and lighter.

It will reportedly be retailed at PHP 2.3 million, PHP 500,000 less than the current model.
