If you're planning to head to Alabang or Balintawak via Skyway Stage 3, you might want to get there before 10:00 PM strikes. SMC Tollways recently announced that they will be temporarily closing the elevated expressway from 10:00 PM until 4:00 AM the next day.

Why will they be temporarily closing the expressway? Prior to its official opening on January 14, Skyway management will continue the installation of streetlights, and other construction activities. With the opening just one week away, the workers need all of the available time in order to finish the pending work.

“We’re happy that the Skyway 3 is helping ease travel and will efficiently reduce the volume of traffic along EDSA as we envisioned it. There’s still some finishing work on the main north-to-south stretch that we are completing, but come January 14, motorists can expect an even better experience at Skyway 3,” said Ramon S. Ang, president, and chief operating officer of San Miguel Corporation (SMC).

The elevated expressway partially opened last December 29, 2020, and is aimed at decongesting major roads of the National Capital Region. The 38-kilometer Skyway Stage 3 connects SLEX/Skyway in Buendia, Makati, and NLEX in Balintawak, Quezon City, and will greatly alleviate major roads like EDSA and C-5 of traffic.

The temporary closure of Skyway Stage 3 will last until January 13, 2021.
