San Miguel operated tollways prepare for traffic increase during 'Undas' holiday
Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), operator of the Skyway and NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), will be rolling out its ‘Oplan Ligtas Biyahe: Undas 2017’ to ensure safety and convenience of motorists heading south of Metro Manila during the upcoming Undas break.
SOMCO expects traffic volume on both expressways to increase significantly from October 28 till November 2 during which it said the group will intensify traffic, safety and security operations.
The program will be activated with the help of local authorities such as the Metro Manila Development Authority and the Highway Patrol Group. Additional traffic personnel will also be deployed at the southbound direction of Skyway and NAIAX, specifically at choke points. During the return from provinces, SOMCO will also be ready with additional traffic personnel present at the norothbound direction of both toll ways. Ligas Biyahe stations will also be installed at the C5 area and Sucat southbound exit thoughrout the Undas.
Meanwhile, Manila Toll Expressway System, Inc. (MATES) and Star Tollway Corporation (STC), operators of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Star Tollway, respectively, also expect traffic to build up on both northbound and southbound directions of their toll roads this coming Undas.
At SLEX, toll plazas with expected heavy traffic include: the Filinvest NB Exit/SB entries, Susana Heights NB, Carmona NB/SB; the SB exit plazas of Mamplasan, Sta. Rosa, Eton and Cabuyao, and the NB/SB exits of Calamba and Greenfields. At the Star Tollway, motorists may experience queueing at the toll plazas of Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, Malvar, Balete, Lipa, Ibaan and Batangas City.
South tollway operators advice motorists to plan their trips with these heavy traffic points in mind. Futhermore they recommend motorists should ensure their vehicles are in good running condition to prevent additional traffic build up.
To reduce queueing, motorists are advised to prepare exact toll fees. Motorists may also call the RFID Hotline at 318-8655 to avail of free RFID stickers for faster entry and exit at the toll plaza.
