The operators of Skyway, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Star Tollway has announced that mototrists heading south for Holy Week 2015 should expect heavy traffic.

According to the Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), Manila Toll Expressway System, Inc. (MATES) and Star Tollway Corporation (STC), mototrists should expect traffic to peak on Holy Wednesday (April 1) and Maundy Thursday (April 2) and on return trip to Metro Manila by Sunday (April 5) until early Monday (April 6).

SOMCO said that they expect an average of 200,000 vehicles to use the Skyway while MATES expects around 275,000 to 300,000 vehicles on SLEX. On the other hand, the traffic at the Star Tollway is seen to grow by about 15-percent from last year's actual average of 37,000 to 42,500 this year due to the additional lanes.

With this, more “exact toll” lanes on Skyway and SLEX are now open to shorten vehicle queues and speed up traffic flow. To lessen transaction time at toll booths, motorists can pay their tolls ahead of time at the SLEX offsite centers: Petron southbound (SB), Caltex nothbound (NB) and Shell SB and NB. The management added that motorists may also purchase toll coupons for furutre use at the said offsite centers.

In addition, all ongoing rehabilitation and improvement works on Skyway and SLEX will be suspended starting today and it will resume on April 7 (Tuesday).
