Skyway Stage 3 to be opened to the public this December
Planning a road trip soon once the new Skyway Stage 3 is officially opened to the public? Well, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is giving the public a special gift just in time for the holidays.
Ramon S. Ang, the president and Chief Operating Officer of SMC has just announced that they will open the entire 18-kilometer stretch of Skyway Stage 3 this December. And it will be toll free for 1 month.
That's right: motorists will not have to pay a single centavo when they use Skyway Stage 3 for the entire month of December. That means the public can drive without the need to pay toll from Buendia (SLEX) all the way to Balintawak (NLEX).
“While we’re still doing a few finishing works, we want the public to be able to use Skyway 3 already and benefit from the convenience and ease of travel that it will bring. We have all waited long for this project, so this is the best way we can welcome everyone, by making Skyway 3 free for one month,” said Ang.
Work on the elevated expressway was officially completed last week, ahead of the scheduled October 31 deadline. With it, travel time between SLEX and NLEX will now only take 30 minutes instead of 3 hours. Not only that, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) expects that Skyway Stage 3 will relieve EDSA of 50,000 vehicles daily as part of the government's decongestion program.
There will be a total of 8 access points along the elevated expressway: Buendia, Plaza Dilao, Nagtahan, Aurora Boulevard, Quezon Avenue, Sgt. Rivera, Balintawak, and NLEX.
Skyway Stage 3 will seamlessly connect Southern Luzon to Central Luzon without having to pass through Metro Manila's already crowded streets.
With holidays just around the corner, the free use of Skyway Stage 3 for the entire month of December will surely save motorists extra cash and hopefully extra time.
