All-new Toyota Veloz comes in 1.5G and 1.5V variants

It's finally here. After making its world debut in Indonesia late last year, Toyota's newest subcompact SUV has arrived in the Philippines.

This is the 2022 Toyota Veloz, and it's more than just a fancier Avanza. Now its own model, the all-new Veloz now serves as the brand's latest 7-seater complete with plenty of features and amenities.

But first, let's take a look at its exterior. While its shape is similar to the Avanza's, the Veloz gets a more upscale appearance. It gets sleek LED headlights with a chrome strip at the center, an all-black grille, inverted L-shaped foglight bezels, and a front air dam that gives it a sportier front. It also comes with LED taillights with a central light bar, 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 205/50 tires, automatic folding side mirrors, and chrome-finished window belts.

Like the exterior, the Veloz gets its own cabin design. It gets a new two-tone black and white finish on the dashboard, door cards, and leather-fabric seats. It also gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a leather center armrest complete with contrast stitching. If you want to treat the Veloz like a mobile lounge, it gets the same Sofa Mode seating layout as the Avanza which can fully fold both the second-row and third-row seats.

There are also USB charging ports for the second-row passengers, as well as a 12V power socket for the third-row occupants.

Other standard amenities in the 2022 Veloz include automatic climate control, push-start button, keyless entry, wireless charging pad on the center console, 60:40 split-folding second-row seats, 50:50 split-folding third-row seats, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and speed-sensing door locks.

No manual transmissions here as the Veloz is only paired to a CVT with sequential shift. As an added bonus, the Veloz gets three selectable drive modes; Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Giving occupants extra peace of mind while in the Veloz is Toyota Safety Sense. Exclusive only to the top-of-the-line V, it gives the 7-seater intelligent driver aids that include a pre-collision system, auto high-beam, lane-departure alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic alert.
