Spied: 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 bares aggressive aero pack

Upcoming Corvette ZR1 sheds its camo

Back in August, our spies sent us photos of what appeared to be the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Those batch of photos showed a heavily camouflaged front end, a disguised rear section and some parts of its carbon fiber skin. Our spies have come through yet again and have snapped the ZR1 with its fascia exposed.

We can now see the range-topping Corvette with a more aggressive aerodynamic package. It comes with a bespoke front bumper with larger air intakes. Below the bumper is a splitter for added downforce. The splitter also extends to the corners of the bumper and are tipped upwards. Distinguishing the ZR1 from lesser models are vents on the hood and a power bulge on the center.

On to its side it gets an extra set of air outlets on the fender while the rear quarter panel sees another outlet. Brakes have been upgraded as well with some test cars sporting red calipers, the others in blue. As suggested by the swirl wrap, it gets a different bumper design at the back which is then complemented by a rear wing.

Like in the previous spotting, the interior appears to undisguised. The dash features a red accent that runs from the driver's side to the center console. Another bright red piece of trim for the passenger side can also be seen. Following in the tradition of higher-performance Corvettes, expect unique details exclusive for this particular model.

Exact figures for the Corvette ZR1 are currently unknown. However, with the C6 ZR1 putting out 638 PS, expect a ballpark figure of 700 PS or more. Our spies added that it may even be close to 750 PS. Unlike the the rest of the range which uses an LS-series engine, the ZR1 will be running an LT5 mill, named perhaps as a tribute to the first Corvette ZR-1 in the early 90's.
