It was back in June 2017 when we last saw Hyundai testing what could be the next-generation Santa Fe. Spotted lapping around the Nurburgring, Hyundai appeared to be testing a high-performance model as our spies noted it barely had body roll and appeared to have a roll cage and racing seat.

Either way, it gave us a glimpse on what could be the new look of the next-gen Santa Fe.

Now, our spies were able to spot the midsize crossover once again only this time it had less camouflage and looked like a standard prototype. Based on the images, it looks like the new-generation Santa Fe will get a Kona-inspired front fascia. It gets Hyundai's new Cascading Grill along with what appears to be dual headlight design.

There also seems to be new front quarter panels and newly-designed alloy wheels. Despite still having heavy camouflage at the rear, it's overall shape somehow resembles its twin, the Sorento, thanks to the more flowing design.

There is also no telling if this is the standard five-seater or bigger seven-seater. Locally, the seven-seater is available only in the Grand Santa Fe as it gets a slightly altered rear.

Do expect the all-new Santa Fe to be available in several engine guises including a turbo-diesel and maybe even a turbo-gasoline. A plug-in hybrid is also not far behind as most automakers nowadays are pushing for electrification of their existing and upcoming new models. Front-wheel-drive is also expected to be the standard drivetrain while four-wheel-drive will be available as an option.
