It seems as though Kia has been busy with the development of the 2018 Cee'd in preparation for its supposed debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. Our spies have managed to snap these photos, showing a pre-production Cee'd undergoing hot weather testing.
The upcoming 2018 Kia Cee'd is expected to have a sportier look compared to the outgoing model. The move to make the Cee'd sportier is to be in line with Kia branding itself as a sporty manufacturer in the Hyundai-Kia family. In fact, Kia has already began the transition with the recently revealed Rio, Stinger, and Stonic.
Going over the photos, the prototype Cee'd spotted sports new, sleek projector headlights. Although the rest of the front fascia is still covered in camouflage, Kia's signature tiger-nose grill is clearly visible. Meanwhile, side vents now sit higher and incorporates the fog lights with the design, giving it a more aggressive look.
Heading towards the rear, one is met with heavier camouflauge. Not much can be made out from the side and rear panels apart from Cee'd having new tail lights, making it appear wider.
Our spies did manage to take a photo of the interior of the Cee'd prototype. It has sporty and simple look compared to its Hyundai counterpart, the i30. The air vents are situated to the sides of the infotainment system, while the i30 has the vents below it. The screen also appears to look smaller than that found in the i30.
Given that the Hyundai i30 and the Kia Cee'd run on the same platform, it is likely the same engine options found on the i30 will find its way into the Cee'd. Expect the hatchback to be released first, followed by a wagon version to follow after.
