After unveiling the i30 Wagon earlier this year, Hyundai was recently seen by our spies testing a larger, more luxurious wagon in the form of the i40. In fact, this is the first time our spies have managed to snap up photos of the next-generation i40 Wagon.
Unsurprisingly, the 2019 i40 Wagon is still heavily covered in camouflage. Upon first glance, it may appear that Hyundai has only given it a facelift to match the rest of their current line up. However, our spies say that it is infact an all new model.
Due to the camouflage, it is hard to make out any details regarding the design change in the upcoming i40 Wagon. From what we can make out, do expect it to feature new headlights which may come with LED daytime running lights. Furthermore, expect Hyundai's signature cascading grill to be added as well. Overall, the i40 Wagon will likely feature a similarly styled front fascia to its smaller siblings.
The rear is also heavily camouflaged but do expect it to have new taillights to match the redesigned front. As regards for size, our spies mention that it appears to be similarly sized as the current version, if not only marginally larger.
Powering the i40 Wagon is expected to come from a range of new engine options. Expect turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines to be made available once the i40 Wagon debuts with A plug-in hybrid and fully-electric versions could also happen sometime down the line.
Our spies expect the i40 Wagon to make its debut late 2018, to early 2019. Also given that the i40 shares the same platform as the Hyundai Sonata, it is possible that the Sonata could spawn a wagon version as well. If not, an all-new Sonata could also soon be underway.
