Spied: 2019 Hyundai Veloster N heads to the Nurburgring

Veloster N, Hyundai's upcoming high performance hot hatch?

Hyundai's N Performance division seems to be very busy. When our spies first spotted the next-gen Hyundai Veloster, it seemed likely from the photos that it would spawn an N performance model. It seems as though the Korean marque is keen on making it happen as the Hyundai's next-gen hot-hatch has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring.

Not much has changed with the new images of the Veloster N prototype since it is still draped in heavy camouflage. Looking at the prototype's front fascia however, there appears to be an outline of Hyundai's signature cascading grill. Furthermore, the edges of the bumper appear to have large air intakes, possibly giving it a sportier look as well.

Looking at the Veloster's side profile, one is met with more camouflage. There are however large red-painted brakes calipers with equally large rotors hidden behind the sporty wheels and low-profile tires. Meanwhile at the rear, there is a noticeably large rear spoiler. It is however the large twin exhaust that gives away the performance nature of this Veloster prototype. To give readers an idea, our spies report that the exhaust setup is similar to the one found on Hyundai's upcoming i30 N.

At this moment, it is not certain what engine will power the Veloster N. Our spies hint however that it could use the same engine as the RM16 N Concept. The RM16 N was powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and is said to output 295 horsepower. The engine is said to likely be used on other upcoming N Performance vehicles.

The i30 N is expected to make its world premiere first, before the Veloster N; which puts its global debut sometime late 2018 or early 2019.
