After having confirmed that the development of the new Toyota Supra (and its BMW Z5 roadster cousin) is well underway, various test mules from both Toyota and BMW have been sighted doing tests around the Nürburgring.
Beyond photos and details through text however, we've yet to uncover anything aural about the upcoming Toyota Supra... Until now.
Our spies have provided a short clip of the new Toyota Supra test mule driving around the vicinity of the BMW M Center and on the Nürburgring with a fair dose of exhaust notes from the long-awaited sports car.
While exact details have not been confirmed yet, both Toyota and BMW sports cars will be powered by a hybrid powerplant which consists of a turbocharged BMW powertrain driving the rear wheels mated to Toyota hybrid electric motors driving the front wheels.
Here's a render from "automotive manipulator" Theophilus Chin, who re-imagined the production look of the next-gen Supra based off the Toyota FT-1 Concept with cues from the Toyota 86 and Lexus LF-A.
We've also been updated with some new clips showing the Supra test mule showing off more engine notes on the Nürburgring. From the video, we can hear the low-tuned bellow often associated with BMW motors with some high pitched notes towards the top rev range as well.
