Spied: 2020 BMW 7 Series hides its new look

Updated BMW 7 Series hits the road

It's only been two years since BMW released the all-new 7 Series, but the folks from Bavaria are preparing its facelifted version. Our spies have caught the updated model and it's well covered, suggesting a dramatic change.

There are covers on the hood, front and rear bumpers, fenders, headlights and grill. It is possible that revamped 7 Series might adapt the look of the X7 or the 8 Series. That means a larger, wider kidney grills which appears to be the direction BMW is taking. At the same time, the headlights are merely temporary units, hinting new corona rings that are likely to be installed in the flagship sedan. The fenders on the other hand may adapt a different look, as well as the hood.

At the rear, the fully covered bumper hides its reshaped design. Corners of the tail lights are covered too, and it's possible that it might get new LED piping. As for the rest of the car, there are no noteworthy changes. There are no photos of the interior at the moment but our spies say that it will most definitely see an update. They add that the 7 Series might also receive semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

Little information also surrounds the powertrain but do expect the current engine range to be carried over. It consists of one six-cylinder turbo gas mill, two inline-six turbodiesels, one V8 and one V12. There are also plug-in hybrid variants, also to be carried over from the current 7 Series. The 7 Series is the first of the 'G' series cars to get a facelift.
