You would think that a racing circuit would be the last place to look for a test mule of an upcoming SUV. In the world of automotive development however, such oddities appear to be standard fare. In this case, our spies have identified Audi's upcoming executive SUV conducting test laps around the Nürburgring Nordschliefe once again.
Interestingly enough, despite supposedly being bigger than a Q7 the Q8 appears to have a wagon-like profile thanks to its C-pillar. A test mule based on the SQ7 was also seen with its doors open, leaving our spies with an important hint at how this look was achieved. Apparently the Q8 will come with frameless doors to lend to that smooth profile despite its size.
With the doors open our spies were also able to peek into the interior where they found very few instruments and instead a host of touch screens in their place.
Powertrain options may well be the same as the Q7 – with one exception. The upcoming RS Q8 will also likely be fitted with a 600PS 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 – the very same motor they will fit onto the Lamborghini Urus SUV.
Expect to see the Q8 on sale sometime in 2018.
