The current generation Audi TT has been out in the market since late 2014. Years after its launch, the third-generation TT is up for a refresh and our spies have captured it for the first time. Given that Audi follows a 7 to 8 year life cycle in their cars, this mid-cycle update fits the time frame.
For this batch of photos, it's the high-performance TT RS that has been snapped, and it appears that Audi has given it a slightly bolder look. Looking through the camouflage, one can see the larger grill but it does retain the honeycomb pattern used on the Audi RS cars.
The heavy camouflage on the front bumper also suggests tweaks made to that panel. It is possible that these changes are for air flow and aerodynamics.
Headlights are also new for this pre-production unit with redesigned LED elements. These are complemented by new daytime running lights as well. The side meanwhile appears to have been carried over largely unchanged but a closer look reveals that the side sills now protrude outwards.
With camouflage also masking parts of the rear, minor changes are to be expected in that section. There are some changes to the lower half of the bumper particularly near the diffuser area. It is possible that the rear bumper may get a more aggressive profile. As for the tail lights, the LEDs have been rearranged to give it a new light signature.
Little else is known about the 2019 Audi TT but interior tweaks are to be expected and a power upgrade may also be in the works.
