It was late last year when we first got a look at the upcoming BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. Essentially it will be a sedan version of the current generation 2 Series. Now, our spies have once again captured BMW's upcoming sedan undergoing cold weather tests in Northern Sweden. The new spy photos also bares more detail of the 2 Series Gran Coupe.
Going into the details, the Gran Coupe prototype seen here is still heavily covered in camouflage. That said, it does not appear to have any significant changes compared to the first time it was seen undergoing road tests. It will likely a adapt an aggressive looking front fascia similar to that found on the coupe.
As for the rear, it is heavily covered in snow hiding most details of the vehicle. We do see however that its general shape is similar to that of other BMW Gran Coupe models which employ a somewhat fastback design. It is also uncertain whether it will be a liftback or feature an actual trunk.
Noticeably however, the test mule seen here is sporting large, blue-colored brake calipers. This indicates that the vehicle seen here could be an M-variant rather than just a standard 2 Series. Furthermore, it is likely the vehicle is still in the early phase of development given the use of false taillights and non-production headlights.
Underpinning the 2 Series Gran Coupe will be BMW's front-wheel drive based UKL platform with all-wheel drive being offered as option. Expect a range of gasoline and diesel engines to be made available once it debuts with the option of automatic or manual transmissions.
