Spied: Get a closer look at the BMW X7, inside and out


Our spies give us more detailed photos and even a peek inside the upcoming X7

It was back during the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show that BMW first gave us a glimpse of the X7 in concept guise. More recently, they released a teaser of the forthcoming flagship SUV on the production line, some of which were not even wearing any camo. Now, our spies got a more up close and personal look at the X7, even giving us a peek inside.

On the outside, it seems as though the X7 is more production-ready than ever. As compared to previous spy photos, this prototype seems to be wearing less camouflage. Up front, there is still the massive kidney-grill which is flanked by a pair of narrow LED headlights. Noticeably, this pre-production model appears to be sporting a more aggressive front bumper with larger air intakes compared to the uncamouflaged one seen in BMW's photo.


From the side, we get to see the X7's flat roof, solid character line, and BMW's signature Hofmeister Kink at the rear quarter window. Those with a sharp eye may also notice that larger M brakes have also been fitted behind the wheels. Not much changes can be seen at the rear apart from the parallelogram-shaped exhaust and the smart LED taillights.

As mentioned earlier, our spies also managed to take a look inside the X7. While most of the dashboard is still covered, it appears it was similarly designed to other BMW SUVs such as the X3 and X5. It features a large infotainment dipsplay front and center with a row of buttons just below. The X7 will also have the same digital gauge cluster as that of the 7-series.

Under the hood, it is expected that the X7 will be powered by a host of engines available in either gasoline or diesel power. There could also be a plug-in hybrid model in the pipeline, as well as a high-performance biturbo V8 and a high-output V12.

The BMW X7 is expected to make a debut later this year as a 2019 model. It will be produced together with other X-models in Spartanburg, USA.
