Land Rover spotted testing more powerful Velar, could produce more than 500 PS
A more powerful Range Rover Velar is apparently in the works. Recently, our spies were able to spot what looked like a hotter version of the all-new coupe-inspired SUV.
Even with the camouflaged wrapping, it's clear that it is a prototype Velar of sorts. Our insiders think that it might be the upcoming SVR version of the Velar. How so? Well according to them, this particular SUV has quite the noisy exhaust that was hard to ignore.
Land Rover was able to hide most of the bodywork but it appears that the Velar SVR will have a slightly altered front and rear bumper design. Our spies even indicated that it may even have a quad exhaust system, which could explain its throaty exhaust note.
Since Jaguar was also spotted testing an F-Type SVR several months ago, it's safe to say that the Range Rover SVR could be its model twin. Supposedly, both SUVs may pack a highly-tuned V6 or V8 that could generate up to 500 or 575 PS respectively.
If Range Rover is indeed testing a more powerful variant of the Velar, then the German big three (Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz) will have something to look out for soon.
