Just a few days ago, Hyundai previewed their latest addition to their ever expanding crossover lineup. Dubbed the Kona, it places itself in the B-Segment market, aiming for the likes of the Nissan Juke and Chevrolet Trax. It also takes its name from one of the well-known beaches in Hawaii.

Days after its teaser, our spies have managed to capture the car on the road again and it shows that the brand has been developing the car for quite some time now. Seen here with its production body, it is still well covered save for a few details. It will slot below the Hyundai Tucson in the European market. 

At the front, we see slim LED headlights, just like the ones seen in the preview. Also present is the outline of Hyundai's signature hexagonal grill. Not a lot can be seen from its side save for a small section of the fender. It comes with roof rails, a semi-bubble roof and an upswept window line. The rear meanwhile is covered by a false panel but do expect a sloping rear windshield.

According to our spies, it is highly possible that the Kona will be based on the next-generation i20 hatchback. They added that, with its bigger dimensions, it may share its engines with the i30, a C-segment hatchback. Front wheel drive will be the standard drivetrain with all-wheel drive being an option. The crossover will be fully revealed later this year.

It is also worth of note that the Kona will have a Kia equivalent reportedly with the Stonic nameplate to be revealed at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show.
