McLaren 675 LT mule hints at future halo car that will succeed the P1

It appears that McLaren has been busy of late testing a prototype halo car. Caught by our spies out at the Nurburgring, it looks like McLaren is road testing what appears to be the P1 successor.

Upon closer inspection, our spies noticed that this particular test mule is based off a 675 LT and is carrying several exterior add-ons. Compared to the stock version, the camouflaged prototype gets a huge rear wing along with smaller diameter exhaust pipes.

Also seen on the 675LT mule are the large air intakes at the front and the large roof scoop that feeds air to the engine. Curious to see however, on the test mule are the initials MV715-23. If memory serves well, the codename BP23 is the internal code for McLaren's supposed P1 successor (also named Hyper GT as McLaren wants to call it).

On the flipside, McLaren stated that BP23 will be the spiritual successor to the original F1 supercar. However, the 675 LT mule was sighted with two seats, not three. If McLaren is adamant in releasing a spiritual successor to the much-revered F1, it's highly likely that it will have the signature three-seat layout with the driver sitting in the middle.

Power will likely come from a twin-turbo V8 that is helped along by electric motors. A dual-clutch gearbox is also likely to be available as well.
