The Focus RS may get more bump under the hood
Since the release of the very potent Focus RS, the car has received much acclaim thanks to its power out of the box and its nifty performance-oriented features. Fans of the Blue Oval believe however that Ford isn’t done just yet with beefing up the Focus - and it appears they might have been onto something.
There have been rumors circulating that Ford is already working on an RS500 version that will top the RS. And while details have yet to surface about the actual model, a couple spy photos of what looks to be the RS500 in development are evidence enough to claim that the car is indeed under development.
Judging from the photos, the only visible difference from the current Focus RS – apart from the missing foglamp shroud – is the unpainted vented bonnet. Despite being only one different piece, do remember that the previous Focus RS500 also had a similar hood, with all other Focus models (including the old RS) having standard hoods.
With the current Focus RS pushing 350PS and 440Nm through an AWD powertrain, the hot hatch is currently poised to wipe the floor with cars like the Subaru WRX STI or the Mercedes A45 AMG. If the new RS500 is indeed in the works, the hot hatch game might just see the scales tipping over to the Blue Oval.
