Crossovers are booming this decade and Kia is on the offensive. Fresh from the debut of the Niro Hybrid and Niro PHEV, the Korean automaker is also busy preparing yet another B-Segment SUV. Dubbed the Stonic, it is slated to be revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
In the meantime, our spies have set us a new batch of photos of the small crossover. Once in production, some of its main rivals will be the Nissan Juke and Ford EcoSport. This time around, we can see more of Kia's upcoming car.
At the front, LED daytime running lights can be see although headlight details are still well hidden. Looking at the corners of the bumper, there are air intakes on each side. If one were to follow the brand's current design direction, expect it to come with the marque's signature “Tiger Nose” grill.
On to its side, the Stonic features a window line that gently curves upwards. A small section of the fender is seen but not much detail is shown. Its roofline is reminiscent of that of the hybrid Niro which slopes downwards towards the rear tailgate.
Like in the previous batch of photos, the rear section of the Stonic is still heavily covered. This suggests that Kia might just come up with a unique or radical design for the car. Looking at the car's shoulder line, it carries through to the rear, suggesting that it may feature that defined line. Also prominent is s fake panel cleverly hiding the shape of the tailgate.
