Like it or not, it’s finally happening: Lamborghini is out to get a slice of that high-performance SUV pie. We can now confirm that the Lamborghini Urus concept we’ve first seen in 2012 is now closer to production after our spies caught it being driven around the Nürburgring in full camo.
From the looks of it, the Urus still holds true to the concept shown several years back. It carries pretty much the same shape, profile, and details as before. If we’re to nitpick any details however we’ll have to catch the Urus with a little less camo later on in the future.
The Urus contributes to the slew of high-performance SUVs in the market by way of sharing a new platform with the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, and the upcoming Porsche Cayenne. Likely we may see a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 under the hood of the big bull, with Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali previously confirming that the motor will make power around the 650PS mark. Sooner or later we may also see a plug-in hybrid variant being offered as well.
With prototype testing well underway, we may see the Lamborghini Urus hit showroom floors by late 2017 or early 2018.
