With winter rolling in on the northern hemisphere, it’s no surprise that manufacturers are seizing the opportunity to test their various vehicles in the most demanding of snowy conditions. For our spies, this makes for a chance to see upcoming vehicles during testing – therefore allowing us to see a few hints of what’s to come. In this case, we now know that Mercedes is developing an AMG version of the GLC63 Coupe.
Spotted in Northern Sweden, the GLC63 Coupe appears to have the obvious changes of a Merc hailing from Affalterbach. A more aggressive front fascia houses a rather large grille that appears to be somewhat similar to that of the AMG GT R. The large holes on the front bumper hint that there’s a rather powerful engine sitting under the bonnet; one that would needs lots of fresh air to operate properly.
The GLC63 Coupe may likely find itself powered by the 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 found in the C63. With 469PS on tap, surely it’s enough muscle to propel the oddly-styled SUV. Should an S version pop up for it, power can go up to 503PS. Given its position in the lineup as an SUV, 4-Matic all-wheel drive will come standard.
Giving this car away further is the fact that it’s rolling on a set of drilled rotors with large brake calipers – only that of an AMG. The quad exhaust tips that resonate a raspy growl can also confirm that this is indeed the high performance version of the GLC Coupe.
The GLC63 Coupe is expected to make its debut during the latter half of 2017.
