Matching the convertible variant that was recently sighted, a coupe version of the Mercedes S-Class was also discovered out testing. Since the convertible had no shots up front, photos of this Coupe help round up the overall aesthetics of the upcoming refresh.
While the convertible revealed the new tail lights as well as a mildly revised rear bumper, photos of these coupe now reveal the new front fascia. Albeit having its air dams concealed by perforated camouflage, it will most likely bear a different shape given it’s the only item that’s still concealed on the test mule.
Like the rest of the S-Class lineup, the update of this Coupe version will find its interior’s update focused mainly on the dashboard. The facelift will receive a massive infotainment and digital instrument cluster housed by a single piece of glass.
As for its powerplant, the S-Class will receive the new M256 3.0L straight six twin turbo motor. The powerplant will mix a traditional turbocharger with an electric turbo as well as an electric motor mated to the gearbox. All these should result in the motor making north of 400 PS.
Mercedes-Maybach may well be working with a S650 coupe as well, but for now only details for the standard S Coupe have surfaced.
