Earlier this week, we got a first look of the all-new G-Class, albeit not officially. Now, it seems as though Mercedes-Benz is already hard at work on another SUV, this time something more oriented for the compact SUV segment called the GLB.
Our spies recently captured the upcoming GLB undergoing extreme cold weather testing in the snowy weather. From the photos, it looks massive especially when compared to the GLA test mule our spies spotted last year. It also has a more boxy design similar to that of the G-Class as compared to other Mercedes-Benz models. However, it is possible that the boxy design is mainly due to the false panels and large amount of camouflage attached to the vehicle.
As for the GLB's styling, much can be said about it as it is still heavily camouflaged. Though the rear part is covered, it does appear to have space for a third row. Up front, our spies did also manage to get a shot of the interior and dash. Though it's not the best quality, we do see that it appears to adopt the same big LED screen found on the upcoming A-Class.
Though it may not appear like it, the GLB is said to use the same platform as the new A-Class and B-Class. That said, expect engine options to be the same on the GLB. Given its size however, it won't be a surprise if power is sent to all four wheels as standard.
Given that this is the first time the car was spotted, there is still no known release date at this point. Our spies hint that it could debut around the end of 2019.
