These latest batch of photos from our spies have left them baffled. According to our spies, this mystery sedan is from Hyundai but not much else is known due to its heavy disguise.
Judging from the billboard in the background, the car is currently making rounds in Sweden. From its looks, it appears that Hyundai (or Kia) is developing a car larger than the Accent. Also worth noting are the five-lug wheels, which hints a larger size of sedan, likely a C-Segment model. The covers on the car, along with the false panels, make it difficult to figure out what Hyundai is up to.
From what we can gather from the photos, this sedan is equipped with projector headlights. It does however, have a more conventional roofline compared to the current lineup of Hyundai and Kia. There are two versions of the car, one with a third side window and one without.
It is possible to rule out this car as the next-generation Elantra as the model follows the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. It is also too soon for the Elantra to have a full model change as it was introduced in late 2015. The same applies to the Kia Forte.
At the moment, it is all speculation but our spies do have plausible guess. With it not following Hyundai and Kia's current design philosophies, it is possible that this model will be made for developing markets. One suggestion mentioned is the car will cater primarily for the Chinese market as they have developed their own SUV in the form of the Creta.
Update: New info suggests that this is the Hyundai Celesta, which was launched in Guangzhou last November. As to why they are testing the car in European winter is a big question.
