The long-running Mercedes-Benz G-Class will apparently be spawning a new-generation model after our spy photographers snapped some photos of the heavily-camouflaged 4x4.
For nearly 40 years, the G-Class' exterior design remains unchanged. The new-generation model is no different but our sources indicated that it is substantially wider. With it, the upcoming G-Class could get improved interior space for the occupants.
Other than that, it is also rumored that the new G-Class will get a significant weight reduction. It is expected that the next-generation 4x4 will be shedding as much as 400 kg.
A wide range of gasoline- and diesel-fed engines are also expected to make their way in the new G-Class. The more powerful AMG variants, on the other hand, will be driven by the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 derived from the Mercedes-AMG GT.
When it comes to amenities and interior design, the all-new G-Class may borrow several pieces from the new E-Class, as well as some of the technologies.
Mercedes-Benz's new-generation 4x4 is expected to be still manufactured in Graz, Austria where the current model is being built.
