Cayenne to use universal MLB SUV platform
After several warnings from men with swords, winter has finally come. While most cars would be rendered useless during snowy season, it appears to be business as usual for the folks from Stuttgart as spies have identified the upcoming Porsche Cayenne conducting winter testing.
One key feature of the new Cayenne will be the fact that it is going to be based off the shared MLB platform. Much like the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga, the MLB platform to be used on the Cayenne will allow for major weight savings as compared to the current model. That said, the new Cayenne may end up weighing 150-200kg less than its predecessor. All that lack of weight would probably lend opportunities for better fuel economy and better handling for the hefty Porsche SUV as well.
For its exterior, the new Cayenne’s design looks to be an evolution of the current model. Most notably it has rather pronounced fenders as compared to older models, giving it a rather muscular look. Everything else on its exterior looks to follow the design cues from the Macan and the Panamera.
Interior-wise, Porsche aims to make the Cayenne less cluttered with fewer buttons. Perhaps we may see something similar to that of the Panamera as well.
Once the Cayenne debuts sometime late 2017 or early 2018, we may likely see petrol, diesel, hybrid, or full electric powerplants to make their way into Porsche’s SUV.
