Porsche goes to the Green Hell with next-gen 911 GT2 RS prototype

Porsche is indeed serious on releasing a hotter version of the 911 GT2. Last week, our spies were able to take photos of the prototype 911 GT2 RS being tested out on public roads. Now, our insiders were able to spot the aforementioned sports car being tested at the Nurburgring.

Based on the images, the 911 GT2 RS still bears some camo but has the correct body panels and bumpers still. Also seen on the 911 GT2 RS are the new air ducts on the hood which may either help cool the engine or channel air towards the rear for extra downforce.

Everything pretty much remains the same on the side and rear, including the large wing, new taillights, large exhausts, black alloy wheels and the unfinished rear bumper design. It seems Porsche was only busy testing the prototype's performance.

It's unclear as to what kind of powertrain the GT2 RS will have, but is highly likely that it will be an uprated flat-six that is helped along by a twin-turbocharger system. It is expected that the new 911 GT2 RS may produce well over 700 PS. Like the previous GT2 RS, the next-gen model may come with a 6-speed manual.

There is no word yet as to when Porsche will officially reveal the new 911 GT2 RS.
