All-new Peugeot 508 to debut next year, could get new exterior, interior design
It's been quite a while now since we last saw Peugeot's new-generation D-segment sedan. Last spotted in June, the 2018 Peugeot 508 will apparently have a more coupe-like profile while still retaining the four-door body style.
Now, our spies were able to spot the prototype sedan being tested once again on public roads. Despite the heavy camouflage, we are still able to see the sleek roofline of the upcoming 508 that appears to slope down towards the rear deck. The taillights and trunk lid may take on a new form as well given the heavy redesign the car received.
The lines on the hood, on the other hand, appear to be fake so it's highly likely that the 2018 508 will receive a new engine hood as well.
Apart from the exterior, the new 508 is expected to ride on the new EMP2 modular platform that is currently seeing use in the new-generation Expert van, 5008 and 3008 crossovers and 308 Sedan. This could mean that technologies from the recently launched models could make their way in the D-segment fighter.
Like the redesigned 5008 and 3008, the upcoming 508 also appears to have Peugeot's new i-Cockpit design that features a futuristic and ergonomic design. It may even be fitted with driver assist features, as well as partial autonomous driving technologies.
Expect a plethora of gasoline- and diesel-powered powertrains to be available in the 2018 508. But given France's plan to ban gasoline and diesel engines by 2040, it's not too far off that Peugeot will introduce a new line of hybrid powertrains too.
Peugeot will fully reveal the all-new 508 come next year.
