While the updated 991.2 GT3 was previewed when the new Cup Car was shown to the public at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, our spies have spotted the road-going version of the 911 GT3 updated testing on the Nürburgring without any camouflage.
This development usually indicates that a reveal is imminent, and the next major auto show that would likely host a global debut would be the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show; with the U.S. being a major market for Porsche.
The front bumper gets a new shape initially previewed by the 991.2 Carrera version we drove locally in April; with most aero mods previewed by the new 911 GT3 Cup car.
The rear receives a new bumper as well with the air outlets on the lower portion relocated nearer to the engine bonnet (right under the rear wing), presumably for better cooling and aerodynamics.
The biggest development for the 991.2 GT3 would be the return of the manual gearbox. The newly-developed six-speed manual option was initially introduced to the 911 R and said to be made available for the new GT3 update.
