BMW M8 Coupe seen upclose, sports heavy camouflage

Last week, BMW released a teaser photo of what appeared to be the upcoming 8 Series Gran Coupe. The four-door coupe is expected to make it's world debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show albeit in concept guise. As for its high-performance two-door counterpart, it appears that the Bavarian automaker is hard at work completing tests of the vehicle as seen in this latest batch of spy photos.

Our spies recently spotted this M8 Coupe filling up at a gas station in Sweden, giving us an up close look at their upcoming high-performance grand tourer. Unsurprisingly, the production body is still covered in camouflage and false panels, hiding the vehicle's final design. In fact, BMW has gone lengths to hide the car's rear end by adding an large panel which is secured to the body by rivets.

Despite the camouflage, we can see that some production parts have already been fitted onto this test mule such as the headlights and taillights. Our spies note that the M8 appears to have wider fenders compared to the standard 8 Series. Expect the M8 to sport a more aggressive bumper as seen in the larger air intake vents and wider kidney grill. At the rear, we have a glance of the sleek LED tailights and the signature quad-exhaust setup.

Large yellow calipers coupled with what appears to be carbon ceramic disks further distinguish it from a standard 8 Series. It also helps stop the M8 with its 4.4-liter biturbo V8 which is expected to push around 600 PS. Expect the 19-inch wheels currently fitted on this prototype to be swapped out for a larger one with a different design.

It is expected that the BMW M8 will likely make its debut late 2018 after the standard 8 Series has been revealed.
