If you've always wanted to give your Fortuner a sportier look, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) currently offers the TRD Sportivo trim model which comes with a more aggressive looking body kit, and a different set of wheels. For the Thailand market however, their Fortuner TRD Sportivo gets a bit more goodies than we do. More so, Toyota Thailand has recently revealed the 2019 model year Fortuner TRD Sportivo, giving it an updated design both inside and out.
For 2019 model, the TRD Sportivo in Thailand gets a restyled front bumper with a large lower air intake and a restyled fog light housings. The lower part of the bumper has also been painted in black to give it a more aggressive look. Silver accents then line the fog light housing and a part of the chin. At the rear, the same bumper and TRD exhaust from the previous model appears to have been carried over. The only noticeable difference would be the black chrome trunk garnish. Blacked-out side mirrors, roof and new 20-inch wheels complete the exterior makeover.
Step inside, and the interior also gets the sporty touch as well. There are TRD illuminated door sills, red-black leather upholstery with red contrast stitching and even a TRD push start button. It even comes with a special TRD gauge cluster, TRD floor mats and carbon fiber trim on the center console. Other features include an 11-speaker JBL audio system, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment and a special set of TRD key fobs.
Much like the previous TRD Sportivo models, the changes to the Fortuner are mostly cosmetic. No changes have been made to the familiar 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbo diesel engine. It continues to produce 177 PS and 450 Nm of torque, and is available in both 4WD and 2WD variants. The kit in Thailand however, does come with TRD shock absorbers and springs.
As of writing, TMP has not announced when the updated Fortuner TRD Sportivo will debut. It is possible that it may debut sometime in 2019.
