Just about every car in Nissan's line-up is available with a Nismo package - from the Almera to the GT-R. Even their crossovers, pick-ups, and SUVs get the sporty treatment. That brings us neatly to the Patrol.

Before its major facelift nearly two years ago, the large SUV was available with the Nismo package. However, the new-look Patrol wasn't fitted with the go-fast bits and cosmetic upgrades. But that's about to change soon.

The 2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo was recently spied in the Middle East, and it looks meaner than ever. It swaps out most of its chrome trim for gloss black highlights, but that's not even the highlight of this model. At the front, it ditches its brash chrome grille for a honeycomb piece. It also gets a different front bumper too, a larger center intake, and a deeper chin with a red highlight.

Another part of the Nismo package is the deeper side steps and a more aggressive rear bumper. If anything, most of the Patrol Nismo is already revealed. For the exterior, the only thing that's left to see is the new wheels. There are no photos of the interior for now, but we can expect sporty-looking parts fitted in there. We might also see a few tweaks to the suspension.

The engine might be a carryover from the previous Patrol Nismo, but don't be disappointed with that. The 5.6-liter V8 from the standard model is tuned by Nissan's Takumi engine builders. That means the full-size performance SUV packs 433 PS and 560 Nm of torque. For comparison, the Patrol you see in showrooms now has 400 PS, although it has the same torque as the Nismo at 560 Nm.

With the recent spy photos, it won't be long before Nissan reveals the updated Patrol Nismo's full details. In fact, Nissan recently dropped a teaser of the upcoming high-performance SUV. From the video, we only got to see short glimpses of the new Patrol Nismo. But all will be revealed on March 31, 2021, when Nissan officially launches it in the Middle East. Check out the video above and see what Nissan has in store for us next week.
