It's been a little over a year since SsangYong Philippines launched the new Rexton SUV last June 2019. But now, the refreshed model has arrived, and it brings updated styling together with new luxury and safety features.
Meet the 2020.5 (official model year designation) Rexton.
The exterior changes on the 2020.5 Rexton are quite subtle, to say the least. The most obvious change is the grille which now features a new honeycomb design. Though a bit harder to tell, the headlights housing are now finished in gray. And that's about it for the exterior changes. But, there is a new color available – Marble Gray. It joins the 2020.5 lineup along with Atlantic Blue, Fine Silver, Grand White, and Space Black.
Inside, the cabin has mostly been carried over. But, keen-eyed readers would notice the new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system front and center. LED interior lighting, seat ventilation, and a 220-volt outlet now comes standard on both the 4x2 and 4x4 variants too. In addition, the range-topping 4x4 now features a hands-free power tailgate and a new key fob design.
Safety-wise, the Rexton still features 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, and hill descent control. There are front and rear parking sensors now complement the rear-view reverse camera which is now standard on both 4x2 and 4x4 variants.
No changes were made under the hood of the 2020.5 Rexton. The 7-seater SUV still uses the same 2.2-liter diesel motor which is good for 181 PS and 420 Nm torque. A 7-speed automatic transmission then sends power to the wheels.
Apart from the vehicle itself, Ssangyong Philippines now offers the refreshed Rexton with a longer free maintenance service. The service includes free oil, parts, and labor for each of the scheduled PMS intervals for the next 5 years, or up to 100,000-kilometers, whichever comes first.
The 2020.5 SsangYong Rexton now retails for Php 1,760,000 for the 4x2 variant and PhP 2,260,000 for the range-topping 4x4 variant. It is now available for viewing at SsangYong dealerships across the country.
