Stefan Jacoby to head GM International Operations

Tim Lee named Chairman of GM China

GM has recently hired former Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby to head its International Operations based in China. Jacoby was appointed as Executive Vice President of Consolidated International Operations and will be responsible for 100 countries in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. The 30-year auto industry veteran has held key positions in Mitsubishi and Volkswagen, aside from heading Volvo Cars.

“Stefan is a great addition to an already strong team. We expect him to continue building on his record of delivering results in markets around the world,” said GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson.

GM’s customer focus and momentum were his deciding factors in joining the company.

“I’m excited to join a company that’s delivering beautiful, high-quality and fascinating vehicles and is committed to improving the total customer experience,” said Jacoby.

Jacoby’s predecessor Tim Lee, has been promoted to Chairman of GM China, but still retains his role as EVP of Global Manufacturing. Lee will continue to oversee manufacturing, labor and manufacturing engineering in 168 facilities in more than 30 countries across six continents. The facilities are both owned by GM and joint venture partners producing vehicles, engines transmissions and components.
