The Kia Stinger has been grabbing headlines lately. After all, it’s a powerful, rear-wheel drive car wrapped in a stylish and (somewhat) practical package. But what if you want something smaller, or one that flies under the radar? Kia has another option for you.

Stinger junior: Kia Forte GT packs a 204 PS punch image

It’s called the Forte GT, and the specs look promising. Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.6-liter mill. What makes it special is the fact that it makes 204 PS and 264 Nm of torque, putting it right at the top of the compact family sedan power stakes. It then shifts via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

While it packs that much power, the Forte GT only has a few styling touches that mark it as a performance sedan. There are slightly re-profiled bumpers front and back, along with a set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Another hint is the red highlight at the back, and the dual exhausts.

Inside, there are red highlights as well that aim to give the car an even sportier feel. Deep bucket seats also come standard in the performance sedan. As with all new Kias sold here, the Forte GT has a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

That’s the GT covered, but what if you just want a sensible four-door sedan without the sporty orientation? Kia will also offer the Forte with a tamer, unboosted 1.6-liter liter engine. Sans the turbo, it makes 130 PS and 157 Nm of torque. It then shifts via a six-speed automatic transmission.

The entry-level Kia Forte starts at Php 1,095,000. The GT, meanwhile, retails for Php 1,650,000.
