During last year’s Subaru Palm Challenge finals in Singapore, Motor Image gave the media an early preview of one of their upcoming models for 2020 – the Forester GT Edition. Now with the 2020 Singapore Motor Show in full swing, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in Singapore has launched the more stylish crossover in the market.

Similar to the GT Edition offered on the XV, the Forester GT Edition gets a host of cosmetic upgrades which improves its overall styling. The kit was designed in collaboration with Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi, former Chief Designer (Head of Global Advanced Design Studio) at Subaru Corporation and Giken Co. Ltd. For reference, Kobayashi was responsible for more than 12 Subaru models including the WRX STI, Levorg and the first-generation Outback.

Going back to the Forester, the GT Edition features a four-piece aero kit composed of a front bumper lip extension, side skirts, roof spoiler, and rear bumper lip extension. Completing the exterior makeover are the new 18-inch wheels exclusive to the Forester GT Edition. Overall, it gives the crossover a sportier yet more rugged appeal thanks to the black body cladding.

Inside, the cabin has also been given an upgrade. It’s based on the range-topping Forester i-S EyeSight variant but features new seat-leather inspired by European grand tourers. It also has a new 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. A 360 degree around view monitor then helps drivers when parking and maneuvering.

As it is a styling kit, no power upgrades were made to the Forester. Under the hood, it continues to use the same 2.0-liter direct-injection, flat-four engine producing 156 PS and 196 Nm of torque. A Lineartronic CVT then sends power to all four wheels.

Following its official launch in Singapore, the Forester GT Edition will make its local debut in the Philippines at the Manila International Auto Show this April.
