Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru in the Philippines held the Manila leg of Singapore's highly-anticipated endurance competition, the Subaru Impreza Challenge last weekend at the Bonifacio High Street Activity Area, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The Manila Leg qualifier was held at the Bonifacio High Street, Activity Area on September 8, 2012 and hundreds of participants signed-up for this one-of-a-kind competition. The top ten qualifiers of the challenge will be flown to an all-expense paid trip to Singapore where they will compete with the winners from other Asian countries and have the chance to win a brand-new 2012 Subaru Impreza.

The Subaru Impreza Challenge is an endurance competition requiring participants to place their palm on a specific area on the car. The last person standing wins the competition and gets a chance to compete for the ultimate prize of a brand-new Subaru Impreza worth P1.158 million. Last year the winner, 42-year old Chong Kiat Chi of Singapore, lasted for 75 hours and 36 minutes to reign supreme over 399 other challengers and took home the grand prize.

The Top Ten Challengers who will be representing the Philippines will be competing with other qualified challengers from other Asian countries. First time challengers Filmark Bernante, Lemuel Perez, Marcelo Soriano, Jr, and Philip Pajimula will be joined by the “veterans” Jason Biadog (4th timer and 1st time in top 10), Mr. Danilo Biadog (4th timer and 4th time in top 10), Robert Ocampo (2nd timer and 2nd time in top 10), Edgardo Marcos (4th timer and 2nd time in top 10), Alex Neblasca (4th timer and 4th time in top 10), and Julius Mark Bautista (3rd timer and 1st time in top 10). This Manila Leg was completed on its 9th hour and 14th minutes (9:14:12:61) after beating several challenges that includes nature’s unpredictable weather and additional tougher challenges with only a 5-minute break given to recharge with food, rest and go to the toilet.

During the Manila leg of the Subaru Impreza Challenge, the fourth-generation Impreza was also presented to the public. Powered by Subaru's 2.0-liter Boxer engine and comes with a Lineartronic CVT gearbox, the Impreza is now environmentally-friendly than before.

“The all-new, fourth genereation Impreza raises the bar again. And with its third generation boxer enggine provides merits of superior road handling and performance, while the fuel economy is also a standout benefit” says Mr. Glenn Tan, Executive Director of Tan Chong International Ltd.
