Juntie Torres emerges victorious at local leg of 2017 Palm Challenge

Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, has announced the winners of the recently concluded Philippine-leg of the 2017 Palm Challenge. Out of the numerous participants, 10 finalists came through to become the Philippine representatives of the 2017 Palm Challenge happening in Singapore this coming October 27 to November 1.

On September 9 at 9th Avenue, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City, the local leg of the 2017 Palm Challenge started. Aspiring contestants flanked 5 all-new Subaru XVs and stuck their right palms onto it. Apart from the heat, contestants had to battle other elements which included heavy rainshowers throughout the course of the day.

After almost 11 hours, the 10 finalists came through. Alex Neblasca, perennial Philippine winner and last year’s runner up in the Regional Palm Challenge finals in Singapore, is once again part of the Philippines top 10. Despite his previous experience, Neblasca only came in 3rd. Neblasca was outlasted by Rheden Pinoliad and new Philippine champion Juntie Torres.

The following day, on September 10, saw the 2nd year of the Collegiate Leg of the Subaru Palm Challenge. Three students managed to take on the heat and latest for almost 5-hours holding on to the XVs. Vincent Ragudo finished first, while Shana Costillas and Joyce Enage came in second and third, respectively. All three contestants take home cash prizes of Php 5,000 each, while Ragudo takes home an additional Php 30,000 for his school.

As for the 10 finalists, they will then be sent to Singapore for the regional finals of the Subaru Palm Challenge, with the winner driving home a brand new Subaru vehicle. Hopefully, this year sees a Filipino representative finally winning the challenge.
