Ever since its introduction in 2012, the Subaru BRZ has been a headturner both on the road and on the track. It is, after all, the first roadster to sport the six-star badge from Japan. This year, Subaru saw fit to give it a refresh from the inside and out.
The 2018 model will come with a slew of new standard equipment straight out of the factory that consists of updated lighting, a fresh new set of wheels, the addition of a new mid-size wing, and interior upgrades that are bound to make you give more than a second glance at the newest iteration of the BRZ.
Six years since, already having undergone previous minor model changes, and with this new set of updates, Subaru aims to make would-be owners and drivers of the BRZ experience the thrill of driving their roadster as a looker on the streets, or as a capable machine through the straights and corners of the circuit.
Let’s have a look at the goodies that come with it, shall we?
As mentioned earlier, the 2018 BRZ now comes with new headlights and revised LED daytime running lights and LED foglights. There are even new double fin garnishes on the front fenders which give the car a sportier appearance. Finally, there's the new midsize spoiler at the back along with enlarged twin tailpipes.
Inside, a new Track Mode setting allows drivers to set their BRZ accordingly to their desired configuration. For improved luggage space, the 2018 BRZ also gets folding rear seats that extends the coupe's trunk space.
Powering the BRZ is the ever familiar 2.0-liter FA20 Boxer engine that produces 200 PS and 205 Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic are available for the BRZ.
In case you missed it at the recently concluded 2018 Manila International Auto Show, you can visit your nearest Subaru dealership for more information about the refreshed coupe.
The Subaru BRZ, brought in by Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc., retails for Php 2,058,000 for either the manual or the automatic transmission variants.
