Just a few years ago, we were happy with a three-year warranty on our cars. These days, most automakers are looking at 5 years. The latest to join that is Subaru Philippines, as they have announced extended warranty for their vehicles, which is now at 5 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
It is applicable to most new Subaru models from the Forester, all the way to the WRX. Not only does the new plan give owners peace of mind, it's also a commitment to future owners that Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru locally, will take care of them. It could even be said that it is a testament to Subaru's reliability.
To avail of this extended warranty scheme, owners must adhere to the scheduled service intervals, conducted at authorized Subaru service centers, to be covered by the warranties. Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. will not be able to extend this program to owners who use non-genuine parts or carry out technical alterations not authorized or approved by the company. So if you're planning to do any modifications to your future Subaru, that will have to wait if you still want to be covered.
On that note, warranty coverage for the WRX STI will be different from the rest of the lineup. Instead of the 5 year warranty on most models, the WRX STI has a 3 year warranty, but it's still good for up to 100,000 kilometers, which ever comes first. Still, it's much improved from the 12-month, 20,000 kilometer warranty it had in the past.
The new warranty policy comes into effect in a few days, on July 1, 2019.
