Subaru Viziv Performance STI Concept to debut at Tokyo Auto Salon
Earlier last year, Subaru unveiled the Viziv Performance concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. It gave us a preview of things to come from the Japanese automaker, especially with hints of it becoming the next-generation Impreza. Now, a more hardcore STI variant will make its debut soon at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon. The new concept will likely serve as a preview of the next-generation WRX STI.
For now, Subaru has only released teaser photos of the upcoming Viziv Performance STI Concept. While most of the vehicle is still hidden in the photo, we do see the signature STI red/pink accents and logos added throughout the body. Noticably, the front bumper of the STI concept has been revised, giving it more aggressive look. At the rear, Subaru has fitted the signature STI wing. However, there are now winglets protuding from the side which likely improve aerodynamics.
Apart from the exterior photos no detail have yet been released by Subaru regarding the Viziv Performance STI concept. Do expect the production model however to use the new Subaru Global Platform. As regards for its engine, it is uncertain whether the Japanese automaker will be keeping the aging 2.5-liter EJ25 boxer engine for the next-generation WRX STI. It is likely to use a newer turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer engine.
Expect more details about the Viziv Performance STI concept once the Tokyo Auto Salon opens this Friday.
